General introduction
The National Hospital of Acupuncture is a leading specialized hospital in the field of acupuncture under the Ministry of Health with a scale of 605 patient - beds (355 inpatient beds, 250 outpatient beds). In addition, the hospital has 625 staff members, including 05 Associate Professors, 07 Doctors, 14 Level II specialized Doctors, 27 Masters, 42 S Level I specialized Doctors, 98 Doctors, 14 University Pharmacists, 192 Nurses, 60 Medical Technicians, and more than 160 other staff. The hospital has 9 centers, 9 functional departments, 16 departments and 1 Vietnam Acupuncture Journal.
Achievements and awards:

- Third Class Independence Medal in 2011
- Emulation Flag of the Government in 2011, 2013, 2019
- Evaluated as a unit that has successfully completed the task of caring for and protecting people's health, combining modern medicine with traditional medicine in diagnosis and treatment.
- Excellently completed international cooperation work. Developed the acupuncture specialty and directly examined and treated people in neighboring countries (Mexico, Russia, France, Italy, etc.).
- The National Hospital of Acupuncture has written 27 books on textbooks, curricula, and specialized books, translated into languages such as English, French, Spanish, etc.
Functions & Duties
- Examination, emergency, treatment, rehabilitation for patients using non-drug methods such as: Acupuncture, acupressure, QiGong nourishes health
- Learn the mechanism of acupuncture, gradually modernize the acupuncture industry Train and develop acupuncture specialists, participate in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate acupuncture at home and abroad
- Direct the transfer of acupuncture techniques to 63 provinces and cities nationwide International cooperation, experience exchange, joint venture and association training Organize communication education on health protection and care combined with treatment and consultation, build a community-based rehabilitation model
Quá trình phát triển
Viện Châm cứu Việt Nam là tiền thân của Bệnh viện Châm cứu Trung ương. Trải qua nhiều thăng trầm lịch sử, Bệnh viện Châm cứu Trung ương hiện nay đã đạt được nhiều thành tựu lớn.
Bệnh viện đã có quan hệ hợp tác châm cứu với hơn 40 nước trên thế giới. Ngoài ra, bệnh viện cũng kết hợp chặt chẽ giữa y học hiện đại và y học cổ truyền trong công tác khám, điều trị bệnh cũng như công tác nghiên cứu khoa học, chỉ đạo tuyến và công tác biên soạn.
Hiện tại PGS.TS.BSCC. Trần Văn Thanh giữ cương vị Giám đốc bệnh viện.
Lịch sử hình thành và Phát triển
Viện Châm cứu Trung ương được thành lập ngày 24/4/1982 theo quyết định số 369/BYT- QĐ, sau đó đổi tên thành Bệnh viện Châm cứu Trung ương năm 2003 theo QĐ 2214/ QĐ-BYT của Bộ Trưởng Bộ Y tế.
Bệnh viện có 07 hội đồng, 03 trung tâm, 08 phòng chức năng, 21 khoa lâm sàng, 05 khoa cận lâm sàng, 01 tạp chí châm cứu.
Thành tích và khen thưởng:
- Danh hiệu: "Đơn vị Anh hùng lao động thời kỳ đổi mới”, huân chương lao động hạng nhất do Chủ tịch nước trao tặng.
- Được đánh giá là đơn vị hoàn thành tốt nhiệm vụ chăm sóc bảo vệ sức khoẻ nhân dân, kết hợp tốt giữa y học hiện đại với y học cổ truyền trong chẩn đoán và điều trị bệnh.
- Hoàn thành xuất sắc công tác quan hệ hợp tác quốc tế. Phát triển chuyên ngành châm cứu và trực tiếp khám, điều trị bệnh cho nhân dân các nước bạn (Mexico, Nga, Pháp, Italia…).

Bệnh viện châm cứu Trung ương đã viết được 27 đầu sách về sách giáo khoa, giáo trình, sách chuyên đề, dịch ra các thứ tiếng như tiếng Pháp, Tây Ban Nha…
